PSI Loading Calculator

PSI Loading, Stress Level

Calculating the PSI loading is used to determine if a bolt-on sensor is a good starting point to weigh a silo or vessel. The PSI calculation consists of a number of characteristics including:

  • Tank capacity – if the weight will be less than 75,000 lbs the PSI loading will most likely be not enough to measure accurately
  • Number of support columns – more legs allow for more change of error
  • Structure type – the shape of the legs is directly related to stress patterns; it is important to have uniform patterns

Three types of vessel scenarios:

  • Leg Supported
  • Horizontal Beam
  • Skirted Silo
